What is love? Many people view love as a tangible item that is given and received between two people. They see it as a special moment people share, a connection to another person that if lost affects them in a deep and terribly hurtful way. They spend their lives in a desperate search for someone to love and make them feel loved.
But love is much deeper and richer than a connection between two people; it is our connection to ourselves and everything around us. Each one of us has the ability to live a life “in love” every moment of every day. True love cannot be gained from anywhere outside ourselves. It does not come to us as a gift; it does not manifest in a box of chocolates, a ring or even in a kiss. Love is more than a physical expression we give and receive as demonstration of our emotions.
Love is greater than simply a feeling; it is energy. It is the life force that flows between every living thing. Love is found in the blades of grass beneath our toes. It is in the smell of flowers and in the song of birds. It is the energy of all creation. It is within us from the moment we take our first breath of life.
Love is always inside of us and given the opportunity to let it grow, it fills us up. The more we give it away the more fulfilled we become in it. In this fullness we begin to overflow with love and compassion; not just for those close to us, but for all of humanity. It is an energy that emanates from our core and expands out into the world around us. When we share our love with others the love within them becomes ignited and resonates back to us.
When we are “in love” we are connected to the love within us. When we allow that love to flow freely from us we are no longer affected by the negative energies of others. We see everything and everyone through the eyes of love and compassion. Love cannot be bought, sold, borrowed or stolen. It exists within us as surely as life itself. Love can heal all wounds, all sadness, all strife, all loss, all fear. Love is indeed the most powerful thing in the world.
When we stop looking outside ourselves for love we begin to discover that it never left us. When we stop looking for love and discover it within ourselves the universe opens up a realm of relationships we never imagined possible.
All of the love we will ever need is already within us, because it is the essence of who we are!
Affirmation: I am Love
Love resides within my core and is the essence of who I am. It flows out through me and envelopes me. As I step out into the world I surround myself with a soft pink aura of light, unconditional love and acceptance. As I go through my day I am protected by the aura I surround myself with. I am protected from the judgments, expectations and negative energy of others. I am protected from anger, blame, guilt and resentment. I am encircled by love and light. Negative energies cannot affect me. My shield is impenetrable. My heart is full and from this fullness I give love to those around me with joy and gratitude. I give freely without condition or expectation. I give for the pure joy of giving. In giving, my love for life and myself is expanded. I love who I am and where I am going. I love my body, I love my soul, I love my spirit. I love life. I love, love. I am love.
