Insights on Love

What is love?  Many people view love as a tangible item that is given and received between two people.  They see it as a special moment people share, a connection to another person that if lost affects them in a deep and terribly hurtful way.  They spend their lives in a desperate search for someone to love and make them feel loved.

But love is much deeper and richer than a connection between two people; it is our connection to ourselves and everything around us.  Each one of us has the ability to live a life “in love” every moment of every day.  True love cannot be gained from anywhere outside ourselves.  It does not come to us as a gift; it does not manifest in a box of chocolates, a ring or even in a kiss. Love is more than a physical expression we give and receive as demonstration of our emotions.

Love is greater than simply a feeling; it is energy.  It is the life force that flows between every living thing.  Love is found in the blades of grass beneath our toes.  It is in the smell of flowers and in the song of birds.  It is the energy of all creation.  It is within us from the moment we take our first breath of life.

Love is always inside of us and given the opportunity to let it grow, it fills us up.  The more we give it away the more fulfilled we become in it. In this fullness we begin to overflow with love and compassion; not just for those close to us, but for all of humanity. It is an energy that emanates from our core and expands out into the world around us. When we share our love with others the love within them becomes ignited and resonates back to us.

When we are “in love” we are connected to the love within us. When we allow that love to flow freely from us we are no longer affected by the negative energies of others.  We see everything and everyone through the eyes of love and compassion. Love cannot be bought, sold, borrowed or stolen.  It exists within us as surely as life itself. Love can heal all wounds, all sadness, all strife, all loss, all fear.  Love is indeed the most powerful thing in the world.

When we stop looking outside ourselves for love we begin to discover that it never left us. When we stop looking for love and discover it within ourselves the universe opens up a realm of relationships we never imagined possible.

All of the love we will ever need is already within us, because it is the essence of who we are!

Affirmation: I am Love

Love resides within my core and is the essence of who I am.  It flows out through me and envelopes me.  As I step out into the world I surround myself with a soft pink aura of light, unconditional love and acceptance. As I go through my day I am protected by the aura I surround myself with. I am protected from the judgments, expectations and negative energy of others. I am protected from anger, blame, guilt and resentment.  I am encircled by love and light. Negative energies cannot affect me. My shield is impenetrable.  My heart is full and from this fullness I give love to those around me with joy and gratitude.  I give freely without condition or expectation.  I give for the pure joy of giving.  In giving, my love for life and myself is expanded.  I love who I am and where I am going.  I love my body, I love my soul, I love my spirit.  I love life.  I love, love.  I am love.

Insights on Fear

There is no word in our language for being free of fear. Fear is always present in our lives to some degree whether we recognize it or not. The control of fear is determined by individual perceptions and experiences. Fearlessness is a lessening of fear and the control that fear attempts to have over us.

Becoming fearless does not mean that we become completely free of fear, but that we learn to identify our fears, face them and move through them. Becoming fearless is a process of learning to recognize the fears as they attempt to stop us from achieving our true potential. Our fears are nothing more than the beliefs that others have placed upon us and we assimilate into our own thinking. They are figments of our imagination and are only as real as we allow them to be. When we allow our fears to control our minds they have the ability manifest themselves in our lives physically as the very thing we fear.

Once we recognize that our fears are nothing more than illusions in our mind we are able to move through them with courage and conviction. When we face them with love and understanding we are able to extract the lessons we can learn from them. The more we face our fears the less power they have over us until they become so small they are barely detectable.

How do we find the courage and ability to face our fears? Simply by asking. Each one of us has infinite wisdom within the core of our being. Our inner councilor will show us our fears and teach us how to heal the energy surrounding them. When we connect to our inner truth we find the strength to stop, turn around, and face the fear head on. When we are connected to our inner power we are able to conquer fear on a daily basis, refusing to allow it to have any control over us.  In becoming fearless we are able to move more freely through life and become more of who we have the potential to be,

Becoming fearless does not happen overnight. It is a process of recognizing our fears, listening to our inner truth and healing the beliefs that attempt to hold us captive.  The more we practice fearlessness the easier and more enriching life becomes.

I Am Fearless

Fear comes in many forms, some looming larger than life and some small and ridiculous. Fear has the ability to completely engulf and debilitate, or can prove to be nothing more than a minor inconvenience.

Regardless of how frightening or trivial the fear — from paralyzing phobias to petty nuisances — all are nothing more than a figment of our imagination. Fear has the ability to exert tremendous control over our lives if we allow it. It can affect every decision we make, however small. But fear is an illusion easily managed by our willpower. Fear exists only in our minds, and we can choose at any time to control it or let it control us.

Many of us unconsciously choose to live our lives in a fear based reality. We ask ourselves “what if…?” as we allow our minds to wander into worst-case scenarios. We build a vision in our mind of the horrifying outcomes that will befall us if we move or take action. And it is that “what if something bad happens” mentality that keeps us trapped in our physical and emotional prisons.

When we embrace the truth about fear then we are able to then conquer it. When we connect to the truth in our core and stop listening to the fear in our head we find the strength to stop, turn around, and face the fear. In facing our fears, we discover that fear is not nearly as powerful as we make it out to be. When we are connected to our inner power, we are able to conquer fear on a daily basis, refusing to allow it to have any control over us. In becoming fearless, we are able to move more freely through life and become more of who we have the potential to be.

Heart Power

Many of our systems, nationally and globally, are undergoing a shift as more truth about our systems and their limitations are brought into the light. The availability of information can either be seen as a cause for blame and resentment or an opportunity to create new systems that not only benefit us individually, but the entire human family.

There are many of us who recognize that we are leaders and messengers in this global shift in consciousness. As leaders and messengers it is vital that we bring our Heart Power into everything we do. Harmony is the song of the universe and the energy of love is what causes it to flow gracefully.

It is vital that we bring our Heart Power into everything we do. For me using “Heart Power” means bringing compassion and understanding into every area of my life.  Not just with my family and friends but into my work as well. It means looking past blame or resentment for what has been and seeing instead with compassion and understanding.  Only with compassion and understanding can we see clearly into the possibilities of what can be.

Over the past few weeks I have found myself putting this Heart Power into practice as I worked in a documentary film I am producing regarding Warren Jeffs and the FLDS.  Filming on location in Colorado City I was harassed by what the locals call the God Squad. During local interviews I heard numerous stories of abuse, kidnapping, animal torture, sex trafficking, rape, extortion and suicide…every possible atrocity known to humankind all justified by religion and a man who calls himself a prophet of God.

It is my life purpose to bring into the light the subjects of spiritual abuse and spiritual liberation. Because of my own healing and spiritual freedom from Mormon Fundamentalism I was able to see those affected by the FLDS practices and beliefs with compassion. They are people who are doing the best they can with what they know, good people who are misguided by a man who is driven by his own desires. As warped and twisted their lifestyle may be to the rest of us, deep inside they are no different. They are looking for guidance, acceptance and support.

Learning how to use the power of love also made it possible for me to see Warren Jeffs, as deviant as he may be, through compassion and understanding.  Had it not been for his selfish desires as a religious zealot the story of the FLDS might never be told and the people would never find the freedom they deserve.  Because of his abuses of religion and the people under his control the members of the FLDS will now have the opportunity to attain true liberation.

That knowledge makes my work worth the effort. Facing my work with heart brings the possibility of harmony to all those who may be served by my message. It brings the possibility of healing from the spiritual abuse that those affected have undergone.  And it provides the rest of the world with the ability to see those affected by spiritual abuse with their own understanding and compassion.

As each of us brings Heart Power into our work, home, community and relationships, we will see a shift in humanity as a whole. Bringing love into everything we do individually has the potential to create a new world collectively. Love indeed is the most powerful thing in the world!

I am Grateful

Discovering Gratitude

As a child I knew very little about gratitude or how to express it.  We were not taught the simple expression of “thank you” and the only mention of gratitude was in the meaningless words that were simply lip-service at the many prayer times. I had no real association to a feeling of genuine gratitude for anything in my life. I knew nothing of what it could do for me and its real value. In fact, I did not really understand gratitude until my mid-life breakdown when I discovered it to be the first essential component to rebuilding my life.

I began to discover gratitude at a time when my life was falling apart around me.  Everything I had built in my life was crumbling and I was forced to rethink everything I thought I knew.  I was in such a state of dark depression that my mind slipped into thoughts of suicide.  Out of desperation to save myself and be who I needed to be for my family I began carving out a few minutes each day for me.  The only time I had to myself was at 6:30 each morning and in that precious time I started walking through the quiet streets surrounding my home. In those few minutes each morning I began clearing my mind and reconnecting with myself. And, it was in one early morning sunrise that I discovered gratitude. Gratitude saved my life.

The ability to witness that spectacular sunrise led to my being grateful for eyes to see the sun as it rose above the homes around me, ears to hear the song of birds waking in the nearby trees and a nose to breathe in the smell of flowers. I felt grateful for the strong legs that carried me on my walk and the lungs that filled me with fresh morning air.  In that feeling of gratitude I began to feel a sense of peace about my life that I had not felt in a very long time, if ever.  I began to recognize how gratitude had the ability to shift everything in my life. What began as one small simple feeling of appreciation led to a complete shift in my way of being.

That moment of inspiration began to change how I viewed everything in my life.  I made it a daily and consistent practice to look for gratitude in every experience and every aspect of my life. It was not easy looking at my failures and disappointments with gratitude but I found a way. In my ability to find the good in all things I began attracting more good and more of what was best for me.  I attracted friends I would have otherwise never connected with, I created relationships and opportunities I would have never imagined and I found a deeper and more inspiring reason for my own personal existence.  I found myself and my connection to all that is.

I am grateful, not for any particular thing, but for all things. The gratitude that began as one small insight has now become a way of living and being in absolute joy and fulfillment.

Gratitude is so much more valuable and so much more vital in the creation of our lives than many of us have given it credit for. It extends far beyond a simple giving of thanks but is an energy, a way of being that causes everything in our life to shift.

When we express the words “thank you” for even the smallest effort on another person’s part it causes the heart to open, not just for the recipient of our words, but for ourselves as well. When our heart is open we become open to receiving more of what we desire. When we live in the energy of gratitude it causes the universe to open up and provide us with our highest and greatest good.

Gratitude is one of the most powerful energies in the universe. It has the ability to break through any barriers caused by fear and feelings of scarcity. It has the ability to melt away any anger and resentment. It has the ability to transform worry into hope. It has the ability to bring us everything we desire as it opens the floodgates of the universe on our behalf. The magical power of gratitude has the ability to change the world, not just for ourselves but for humanity as a whole.

Gratitude opens a gateway for the universe to shower us with an abundance of all things we desire. When our minds are focused on fear and scarcity we create a barrier to our divine abundance. When we are able to hold our minds and hearts in gratitude for our present circumstances we then open a way for us to receive more of what we desire. The love in our heart melts away the barrier that is created by fear and in that feeling of gratitude the universe is able to openly and freely give us what we ask for. Many of us have difficulty finding gratitude in our circumstances and in effect halt our own evolution and unlimited potential. When we allow ourselves to look for the good in all things more good comes to us.

How do you access gratitude when there is so much pain, fear and feeling of lack? It is quite simple actually – begin with the small things. Each grateful thought will lead to another and another until you begin to realize how truly abundant you are. When you embody gratitude and feel it deep within your center then everything in your life must shift to align with that feeling of abundance. From that place of appreciation you will begin to feel a shift within you. Then you will begin to see the infinite possibilities of life and the infinite abundance of the universe. From that energetic shift you become a magnet for receiving more good.

The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude is one of the most powerful energies in the universe as it opens the way for all goodness to flow. Gratitude is the key that opens the door to more of what we desire and is the gateway to abundance in all things. Gratitude is the force that breaks through the barriers that have existed in preventing the collective consciousness from receiving greater abundance. Fear and deception of scarcity are easily defeated and transmuted when there is gratitude. Anger and resentment melt away when there is gratitude.

Gratitude opens us up allows what we desire to flow freely to us. Without gratitude the heart becomes blocked to the very thing it desires – it becomes blocked from love. Without gratitude the mind becomes blocked from the very thing it desires – inspiration. And without gratitude the soul becomes blocked to the very thing it desires – connection.

Gratitude is so vitally important in the creation and co-creation of our world. The simple words “thank you” are far too easily forgotten in the business of life. Yet those words are necessary for the co-creation in all things as they raise the energy of love in both the giver and the receiver. Always be in the attitude of thanks giving and appreciation. Always be open to sharing that attitude with others. When people are genuinely appreciative it creates an energetic shift within themselves which spills out into the world around them. As the energy of appreciation rises in one in one it has the ability to spread across the globe and ignite gratitude in others. When enough gratitude engulfs the planet then everything on the planet must shift to follow suit. Systems change as energies change, not the other way around. Live in gratitude and watch the magic of this energy unfold.
